Position: Driver

Department:   Procurement and Logistic Department

Location  SRCS   Mogadishu Coordination Office

Reports To:  Logistic Assistant

Background:

SRCS is an independent, non-political humanitarian organisation. It was established in April 1963 and became a legal entity following Presidential Decree No. 187 in 1965. SRCS has operated continuously throughout the country’s period of civil war and political divide and is credited for its unity as one National Society. It operates through a network of nineteen branches with activities spread all across the country. 

Overall Job Purpose

Driver at the SRCS Coordination Office, here after referred to as the Driver is guided by the Red Crescent & Red Cross Seven Principles (Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, Universality) and International Humanitarian Law, as well as the SRCS policy and strategy and procedures as established. The Driver’s employment conditions are established and agreed upon separately.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

1)      Drive carefully and ensure safety of the passengers, other road users, and the assigned vehicle

2)      Check the vehicle before and after the travel of the car

3)      Schedule the route and through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports

4)      Report all maintenance of the vehicle and other problems to the responsible officer 

5)      Ensure cost saving through proper use of vehicle

6)      Ensure the immediate actions required the rules and regulations are taken in accidents

7)      Ensure cleanliness of vehicle and verify that the vehicle is in good condition before use

8)      Follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations

9)      Assist in other duties in the office as assigned by the immediate supervisor when not undertaking transport facilitation.           

10)   Report to the administrator immediately whenever there is change condition of the car due to need urgent repair and maintenance

11)   Ensure all vehicle reports such as Log-sheet are done and are submitted on or before the scheduled date to the administrator

Educational Qualifications & Professional Training:

  1. Completion of High School Education or equivalent qualifications
  2. Defensive driving, Motor-Vehicle Maintenance
  3. Professional Training Basic First Aid and Fire Fighting
  4. Certification/Licensing   Valid Driving License.
